The Mathematical Origin
In 1736, Leonhard Euler proved it was mathematically impossible to walk through Königsberg crossing each of its seven bridges exactly once. This proof birthed graph theory and topology.
During World War II, British bombing raids destroyed two of the bridges. The city became Soviet Kaliningrad in 1945. With only five bridges remaining, the network's topology changed — and what Euler proved impossible became solvable.
No documented timed run exists. The challenge: cross all five remaining bridges exactly once, running. The mathematics that proved it impossible now permits it — courtesy of war.
